Sustainable Foods- School Gardening

Factory farming is a big issue, it is the leading cause to forest deforestation.  It is responsible for the destruction of up to 91% of the Brazilian amazon Rainforest.  Livestock in total, covers 45% of Earths land.  The livestock consumes 50% of our grain to feed cows, pigs and chickens. 

Why does this matter to food sustainability?

If all of our land is destroyed and damaged by the raising billions of animals every year, then how are we supposed effectively use our land, and grow enough food for everyone?  By the way we are doing it now, we can’t.   We need to start focusing on growing food for ourselves first, because there are 795 million starving children, and there is enough food to feed 9 billion people.
